Bit of an update…

Okeydoke,

I played a gig on Saturday and since the album is being mixed, and there is an absence of things to tell you all about, I figured I would post the video of it! Played a couple of new tunes so any feedback is more than welcome!

In two parts so expect another post soon…

Stay safe.

so I wrote this song…

Hello there,

I haven’t written anything for a while, far too long a while in my opinion. So with that thought churning within me: here is a song. It’s interesting I think. And here is how I came about it:

I was in receipt of a letter, not just any old letter; I get them from time to time. This was a letter from a Japanese POW Camp. And literally, it made me think.

So as with all the stuff I’ve written about war, this became something I wanted documenting. With this impetus I turned my inspiration into a song; this isn’t words to music as such. My ideas married with theirs.

Anyway, I had an idea, because my grandfather was a participant. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it.

We are still alive! – Carl.

Things might appear a little barren around these here internet parts lately. Do not fret though. We are still very much going. It’s hard to describe what we are at the moment. It’s not a break, its a pause due to outside influences. If that sounds too cryptic I shall put it another way.
Adrian is in the Isle of Man doing some teacher stuff. So its a bit hard to function without our singer/guitarist. We don’t lend ourselves to 20 minute instrumental songs really.
That being said, if you do live on the Isle of Man, keep your eyes and ears peeled for Adrian doing some solo stuff over there. He has his guitar!
When I have enough money (curse you Christmas shopping) myself and Whisky will head into the studio to finish our parts for our debut album.
Anyhow, that’s all for now.

Peace, love and unity. X

James McCartney gig – Carl.

Well I have to say. Wow that was a fun gig!! Oddly, even the load in was fun. Got to use an old school service elevator. You know the type. The sliding doors and buttons on the outside to send the lift down whilst you take the stairs. I don’t know why, but it made my day 🙂
Sound-check went great, even though we were down a member (Andy was working in Wales so could only make the gig) for it. I tried my best to sound-check my bass and his keys at the same time. :p Once sound-check was done we chilled in the dressing room for a bit. Got stuck in to the rider ((how rock and roll) and just Continue reading

Damn You Strawberry Lace…The Video – Carl

So a short while ago, myself and Adrian recorded a quick acoustic number ‘live’ in the studio. We also set up a few cameras and filmed it. I am not a video editor at all, but I can amble through most programs. This is what I have been doing for the last few weeks with it. I have used a few different programs and finally found one that I get on with. I am still using it in a very backwards way, but it is the easiest of the programs. However, I had to convert one of the files to a different format, yada yada yada. Needless to say, it has been a little frustrating.

Today I finally finished it!!!!!

I am just rendering the video with a few different file types to try and get the best sounding audio from it that I can. Then it will be on our Youtube page (http://www.youtube.com/marryanother in case you didn’t already know :p) and I will post another blog with it linked as well.

I hope you enjoy it. Expect it up either in the next 20 minutes or early in the morning (depends on how long it takes to render. Band practice tonight)

New (Old) Song Update – Adrian.

OK, so Carl was true to his word and managed to get the song sorted.  Basically it’s an idea that’s been kicking around for a while that we never did anything with, as he says it’s unlikely to be released anywhere else; it’s just this idea of putting tid-bits out there in the hope that they will keep you all entertained!

It’s a pretty sad song, the lyrics date back to quite a chaotic time for someone I know. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, but perhaps some people will relate. In complete anachronism to this is the songs title, “Damn You, Strawberry Lace”. This occurred after at a venue we were playing, Carl, after three days of not sleeping due to nights out/work was is in something of a sorry state; fighting a losing battle with a cardboard cup of pick ‘n’ mix, when he uttered this very phrase. These are the kind of things I just have to write down to use as song titles when the obvious choice would be too derivative and generic. And to inject a certain amount of cheer into an other wise dour subject.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy!

‘Damn You, Strawberry Lace!’

By the way, as Carl mentioned, there’s a video on its way!
